UW-Fox Gets Road Win

Chris Searl hit 2 free-throws with :06 seconds left to seal a 51-47 Cyclone win on Wednesday night at UW-Washington.  It was Searl’s first game action since he aggravated a lingering knee injury back in November.
The Cyclones built on a 21-16 halftime lead early in the second half.  A Korey Jagiello basket gave them a 34-24 lead with 12:48 left in the game.  However, the Wildcats slowly chipped away at the lead and tied the score at 40-40 with 5:29 left.
Over the next two minutes the Cyclones would go on a 6-0 run keyed by two Jagiello baskets and capped off by a Travis Puyleart driving lay-up.  Once again the Cyclones couldn’t put UW-Washington away.  A basket with :37 seconds remaining made the score 49-47, setting up Searl’s game clinching free-throws.
The Cyclones defense limited the Wildcats to 1/18 3-point shooting (5.6%) for the game.  UW-Fox struggled from long distance as well, but shot 54% (13/24) overall in the second half.  The Cyclones also had a 34-22 rebounding advantage for the game.
Jagiello finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds to lead UW-Fox.  Fellow sophomore Travis Puyleart scored 14 points and had a career high 9 rebounds.
UW-Fox improves their overall record to 13-1, 7-0 in the WCC-East.  They return to action on Friday night against Fox Valley Technical College at 8pm in the UW-Fox Fieldhouse.
